Cherie, I don't have a classroom, but try to help teachers try to implement technology into their classes. I think setting the tone from Day 1 and giving the students an option to use digital media or whatever Technology you choose to use. If I were to go back to teaching, I would use wikis for myself and have each student keep their notes on their own wiki. When they get jobs are they going to be writing things down in a notebook? I hope other teachers give their insights into how they handle it. I'm sure every teacher and every school district would be vastly different.
Hi Cherie,
I would agree with Mark that each school will differ vastly. I am a H.S. health teacher and I use an educational web site called Quia. I have used Quia for several years, I started using it because I wanted other ways for my students to become engaged in learning. Students can work online from anywhere with internet connection. My students quiz/test scores improved once they started using quia, I have developed review activities along with quizzes. I post class projects on the webpage quia provides for it's members.
Most recently I have developed a STD's & Contraceptive project in VoiceThread. My student really like working with VT. I will also be using a wiki next year for my students to post their projects.
Here are some examples of some VT's from my health classes. Teen pregnancy unit Contraceptive unit STD unit
