There is going to be a 21st Century Tech conference in Los Angeles area. Has anyone ever been to one of these? Is it worthwhile for a classroom teacher?
Thanks!

Lisa, thank you for coming in and explaining that. I know I heard about IEARN last year at NECC in San Antonio and with our push towards Global Awareness and other 21st Century Skills, I'm sure I'll be interested in checking more out at NECC in a few weeks in DC.
Thanks again.

Some brief info about iEARN's membership structure -- each iEARN country maintains its own memberships, and process for working with and supporting educators locally. In the US, we have a small fee for individual teacher memberships or full school memberships. Some other countries also have fees, while most, like France, do not. We'd be happy to mail out materials to anyone who is interested in learning more, or feel free to email me at ljobson@us.iearn.org. Huge thanks to all of you for your commitment to giving your students international experiences as part of their education -- reading this thread is very inspiring! If there's anything we can do to help, let us know. Lisa (iEARN-USA)

Heard back from IEARN seems there is a charge:
"Individual memberships are $100/year for a single teacher, who can register an unlimited number of students for project work. School memberships are $400/year and allow access to all teachers from that school who many then register unlimited students."

I didn't have to pay to join IEARN . I had to give lots of info about me and my school and a few days later I was "approved". Stupidly I did this at the end of the school year - but will make the most of the summer break to get things ready for next year.
