I think that would be correct Janice. If you create something in your account and it's public then it's public to anyone.
It sounds like comments have to be approved. If you log in you can see the comments you made but until the owner of the VT approves the comments (play them and "open the curtains") they won't be available to everyone.

I don't know of a way to associate an identity with a page - you'll just need to click on the avatar next to the left arrow at the bottom of the VoiceThread and change identities when you need to.

You can reorder things on a VoiceThread now - yeah! So you could have your students comment and then you could reorder the students reponse to play right after the comment - see http://voicethread.com/blog/#20090911
If you have it set to moderate comments (which is sounds like you do) then you need to login and approve them - click on the comment and "open the curtains" to approve it.
The bad news is you can't do anything about this after they've recorded. They all recorded using your identity.
